At the invite of Yamaha in the Netherlands and their biggest Yamaha dealer, Gebben Motoren, Shaun Redhead has arrived in Europe for a month long stint to combine a range of races with plenty of testing and training in another huge step forward for his career. Redhead, just 15 years of age, impressed the Yamaha people in the Netherlands immensely on his previous trip back in August last year that was unfortunately marred by a broken wrist. But his attitude off the bike and his skills on it, had the locals asking for more and with a month long break in his Australian program, Redhead is able to take the time and return.

As the sun rose over Hendley Park in Byford, the Wellard Yamaha Junior Development Team set up camp and prepared to do battle on the hard pack circuit situated at the base of the Darling scarp south east of Perth. With still no sign of rain to quench the W.A landscape, The Lightweight Motorcycle Club had been pouring as much water onto the circuit as they could in an attempt to keep the dust down and provide the best possible racing surface for the riders.

Rampant Clothing’s Kristy Gillespie continued her winning form at the weekend, easily taking the Women’s Class victory at round one of the 2009 Victorian Motocross Championship, held at Broadford. The reigning Australian Women’s MX Champion and Victorian champ won all three heats, despite getting hit by another racer in the first corner of the second race.

Motorex KTM Off-Road Team Manager, and Racer, Brad Williscroft has taken out his third consecutive win at the 2009 Kamfari Mud Race. Racing the KTM 450 EXC-R, Williscroft competed for just over five hours, lapping up to second place.

After one of the most enthralling seasons in the history of the AMA/World Supercross Series Australia’s two-time World Supercross Champion Chad Reed has claimed a second place round result and unfortunately surrendered his World Championship title at the final round of the 2009 season at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas tonight.

LAS VEGAS (May 2, 2009) – A sold out, standing-room only crowd of 39,506 packed into Sam Boyd Stadium for the 2009 Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, season finale in Las Vegas. While all eyes were on the heated rivalry between San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., and Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s Chad Reed, of Tampa, Fla., rookie Ryan Villopoto, of Poulsbo, Wash., stole the show with his second victory in the last three races. In the annual, talent-filled Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Supercross Lites Shootout, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Christophe Pourcel, of Corona, Calif., took the win and earned a Toyota Tundra for his efforts.

More than 130 ‘little revvers’ ripped-it-up at Dunedoo (NSW) today at round three of the popular Yamaha MX Cross Cup series. Seniors and the highest capacity Junior class (250cc 13/14-years) are up tomorrow. Team Shift Motul Suzuki young-gun Luke Clout turned some heads in the challenging, dusty conditions, winning both Junior 125cc 13/14-years heats ahead of Hayden Mellross (Thor Honda Racing).
