Round 8 of the Victorian off-road championship finds it’s way to the historic venue of Broadford on Sunday the 12th of July. A place surnonimous with the Mr Motocross series of the 70’s and 80,s, legendry names have been forged around the “Reg Hunt” circuit. Names like “Leisk”, “Dack” and the “Floods” all have left their knobby prints at this fantastic venue.

In the late 90’s the Motorcycle Racing Club of Victoria turned the venue into a tough and challenging cross-country racetrack, it once again attracted huge names this  time from the offroad world. World enduro champ Shane Watts and multi Australian off-road champion Frank”the bomber”Bonfadini put on a titanic struggle on for race honors that saw the fastest lap of race done on the very last lap of the 3hour.

It’s set to resume on the 12th of July 2009 some 10 years later. The who’s who of Victorian offroad racing will once again bang bars and swap paint for what promise’s to be an awesome 3-hour cross-country. Perfect conditions are in the teams and racers favor with good rains falling through out the area.

From the spectacular mx track to some fast grass track sections, combined with tight flowing technical bush land sections and a disused sand quarry, riders are promised a challenging and rewarding course.

The first half of the course should suit the mx rider, and the other half will suit the enduro rider. A great mix of terrain from soft loamy dirt to grass track to rock, logs and hard pack even sand await all riders.

Will Hands-On Kawasaki KX450 rider Todd Stephenson extend his out-rite lead and get closer to his first championship or will Christensen’s Yamaha WR450 youngster Daniel Milner take his first cross country out-rite win on the day.

On thing is for sure defending 2008 champion factory Husaberg FE450 rider Blake Hore will have a say in the matter along with factory WR300 Husqvarna rider Jehi Willis who is a current Australian Enduro Champion. All classes promise to be hard fought once again as we pass the half way mark in the championship.

With 3 hours of none stop race action for pro’s, expert’s and clubman and 2 hours for juniors and throw into the mix the ever important pit stop playing a part in race strategy and a fantastic spectator venue the stage is set for another epic battle on the race track.

The Broadford round is one of the closest rounds on championship calendar, so make tracks to state’s premier motorcycle park on July 12 and watch the dirt fly. Free spectator entry.
